About Lauren
Lauren Whitmire, is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C), with Functional Medicine training, who shares the Vital Health Solutions mission, “through the practice of personalized healthcare and natural remedies, our mission is to nourish and enrich the health of our communities so they will flourish and thrive.”
Lauren has over 16 years of nursing experience. During her years as a nurse, she noticed that the same patients would come back to the hospital where she worked, time and time again, but they never seemed to get better. Instead, they would simply leave with their ever-growing list of medications, only to be back in worse shape the next time! She would think, “this doesn’t seem right” or “maybe the patient did not follow the doctor’s orders” because the medications are treating the illness, right?! WRONG!
It took Lauren awhile to figure out what was happening. As nurses, we are trained to “trust” the system, but something just didn’t add up. After having her own health struggle, she began to realize what was really happening. The system was not getting to the root cause of people’s health concerns! She now knew that when the root cause(s) of ailments are not corrected, people will never heal and get well. Instead, the person will be stuck in a downward spiral that leads to debilitation, loss of independence, and a likely early demise.
Of course, not realizing another way at the time, when Lauren got sick, like her conventional medicine nursing peers, she put her trust in the countless number of doctors she saw, but they only offered referrals, medications, or non-advice such as “well, you are getting older.” Finally, after years of struggling and nearly being resigned to her fate of declining health, she found her way to Functional Medicine. That is when she finally began to get her life back! Knowing that she had found something special, she devoted herself to helping people truly HEAL using the principles of Functional Medicine.

Lauren is also a wife, and a mom to two awesome girls, and a self-proclaimed nerd, obsssesed with learning. She believes in treating everyone with respect and dignity, and strives to be honest, kind, and encouraging in all situations.
